A resin surface is relatively low maintenance and really doesn’t require a lot of attention.

Now that you have invested in your new resin path or driveway you will want to keep it clean and tidy. Here are a few tips to help you:

Sweeping away leaves/debris

A resin driveway may require regular sweeping to remove the build-up of wet leaves, dirt and any other debris. A quick sweep with a stiff brush is the ideal tool to remove any type of debris.

If you do not maintain your newly laid resin drive, it could start to develop weeds and moss. This can cause problems such as loosening of the resin, which will make the surface less smooth than it was previously.

Wash it down

Once you have brushed away any debris, use a jet washer or garden hose to clean the surface area. The water temperature should be moderate. If water is too hot or too cold, it can damage the resin. Using a moderate temperature allows the water to clean the driveway safely, minimising that risk.

If the surface has any cement or concrete marks these can be removed using a branded cement remover or dilute hydrochloric acid. However, we would advise to attempt this on a small area first to confirm suitability. Alternative would be to contact a resin specialist.

No more oil marks

An oil spillage or leak on a driveway is not only unattractive, it can be a slipping hazard too. Believe it or not, oil marks are quite easy to remove. Just use a small amount of household detergent and some warm water to gently rub the stain.

Remove problem weeds

Areas that are exposed to trees may drop sees during blossom. If this happens, we would advise to gently pull the weed by the root. Should weeds re-appear, use some weed killer to wave them goodbye for good.

Contact the specialists for regular cleanings

If you do not have time to clean your resin surface, you may consider getting in contact with an expert to sign up for an annual power clean. We can organise this for you, although it is pretty straightforward and more cost effective to do it yourself.

By keeping up with regular cleanings, your resin drive can last longer, maintaining its smooth finish, grip and colour.
